According to Owen Nteirien," the senseless killings in
Rivers State has gotten to the extent that an urgent action should be taken to
stop further loss of lives and properties. Last month, a whole town (OYOROKOTO)
in Andoni LGA was completely burnt down and the state government did nothing,
not even a visit to the displaced victims of the area. As I write today, nobody
is living there and nothing has been done to resettle them. We have
suddenly become refugees in our own land. We are fishermen and women but we are suddenly becoming beggars just to eat. We need to know from Rivers State
government if Andoni is part of the state. Or, have we been cut out of the
state, that such high magnitude of insolence and economic sabotage will take
place and even my colleagues, whom I sent the report few hours after the
incident to air it, none of them did? I am disappointed in all the media organizations
in Rivers State and beyond. We need to consider every part of the state as
equal stakeholders. That village alone has over 3 oil wells. As if those of
Oyorokoto, Andoni were not enough, last night over five persons were murdered and some were burnt alive. Buildings in the area were razed down unaccountably in AMARIARI COMMUNITY OF BONNY

The information reaching us today has shown that the people of Andoni Local Government Area in Rivers State are really suffering in the hands of hoodlums and militant groups. We, therefore, call on the Government of Governor Nyesom Wike to urgently take a drastic action and restore peace and sufficient security to the people of Andoni Local Government Area in the state.
